Life on the Dole Part 1

I'm 28 years old, have a BA (hons) Degree in Theatre Sound from The Central School of Speech and Drama - University of London, I graduated in 2006 and then spent 2 years as President of the Students Union.

I live in London

Since the Summer 08 I've worked freelance in Theatre doing various crewing roles with the odd sound based job here and there. My most prestigious job to date was operating the sound for 'In The Red and Brown Water' at the Young Vic in Autumn 08. Since then the work has slowly dried up and so has the money.

I'm currently looking for Sound related jobs (any industry!) or Event Management jobs (based on 2 years experience organising events for students)

The reasons for this blog are simply to help pass the time and maybe I'll entertain/inform a few people along the way.

Whilst we are interested in your details it is currently a very competitive market and it is becoming increasingly important to have experience within the industry.

May I suggest that if possible, you gain some experience in the event environment through voluntary work in an events company.

You want to stop feeling sorry for yourself mate and explore the possibilities of having a lot of time on your hands.
