I think this version of the song loses some of the touching aspects of the original.
Dar finds a very unforced child's voice. She makes me cry, because I identify so strongly with the narrative of both child and babysitter, and how their relationship is meaningful to both of them, but in such different ways. The way this "child" is acted, is so much more played up and ends up being disingenuous.
I don't prefer it, but it's valid and effectively executed from a musical theatre stand-point.
