Ya I think if you come from the school of blues box rock then learn jazz modes and perhaps chicken pickin playing guitar becomes interesting! Especially if you can manage to make music out of it.

@osensei2987 :-) True, People tend to marginalize anything they don't understand. Listening to and studying Jazz can be a big help even if you can't do it well.

You are 10000000000% correct! But most people don't start out learning Jazz as their first style. Most people just imitate what they hear via popular channels and after they've been playing for a while, they realize how easy and BORING it is playing the same old bubble gum BS all of the time! Then they develop an appreciation for Jazz. But if you tell them that in the beginning they'll just call you names like "Jazz snob" and shit like that!

@osensei2987 Learning real Jazz can prepare you for learning any kind of guitar playing. I'd recommend Jazz guitar lessons.
