@Brandoskey You may be satisfied with puttin nails in by hand. I'd prefer build roofs three times faster with a nail gun and make three times as much money but each to there own.

i also think handbanging is easier and faster than pnuematics. i myself dont walk 2X4 i mainly pound the ground. we small company so im the forklift.

@s37d What I think is ironic is we straighten the walls with wood and we rig up planks and saw horses and even make scaffolding with wood, makes me think the scientists were right, that the stones for the pyramids were moved with sand and stone, and people of course !!

@americantradesmen That is something that is being faded out so it will be a lost art, walking walls actually got me off on a DUI lol it was real windy and I actually walked the line better than the cop when he showed me, He said guess your not drunk and you did it better than I, But seriously, OSHA is stopping this technique, I think those pencil pushers are just jealous, some carpenter's must have stolen their girlfriends

@s37d its much cheaper to build from wood and wood is better a incelator than any of those

It's funny how after discoveries like iron, steel, aluminum, titanium, etc...houses are still built out of wood, like our ancestors did 1000's of years ago.

No safety measures whatsoever...certainly not in Europe.

Love walking top plates! Company i work for does a lot of really large buildings (retirement communities and apartment complexes) so there are days where i literally am up on the walls all day tying in top plates. always stay 3 feet in from the leading edge though, at least until it's time for spreading trusses. tie the outside walls from a ladder most times.

Have had a framing company for ten years, been framing for twenty five and it is refreshing to see guys who know how to use a hammer. My crew gets up set because I do not allow guns when rollong trusses or stick framing roofs. There is enough to worry about without hoses in the way and I think it is quicker, safer, and more cost effective.
Walking the wall, good balance.

@mlbechtel agree 100% i'm still pretty young and prefer hand nailing when spreading roof trusses, and even bracing, swaying and nailing up top plates. i'd rather walk the plates with a pouch full of 16's than move a ladder around, pulling a hose everywhere, getting it caught on braces. not to mention a hand pounded nail is considerably stronger yet easier to remove when it's time to strip braces. there's also something very satisfying about putting them in by hand.
