Martha Jones is one of the greatest Companions to ever grace the screen with The Doctor. The incomparable Series 3, especially its thunderous conclusion in "The Last of The TimeLords", pushed Doctor Who into overdrive! Furthermore, the "Martha-centric" episodes in Series 4 [Sontaran Strategem/Poison Sky] married Doctor Who's new vibe with a retro feel of classic Who. In other words, Martha Jones' rich story lines and characterization helped "reboot" Doctor Who into the sci-fi juggernaut it has become!

Martha Jones, who had been working toward passing her medical boards, by the time she last left the TARDIS, had not only achieved her goal of becoming a Doctor, but had become one of the greatest fighters in human history. She successfully led, organized, and disciplined humanity in its hurculean struggle to overthrow The Master -- and vanquished him with a single word!

Furthermore, The Doctor's unacknowledged feelings for Martha pervaded Series 3, helping to shape it into a most bittersweet, yet compelling series. The Doctor's inability to admit to himself the possibility of romantic feelings for Martha, after the loss of his previous companion, made for a more nuanced, adult, and as the Doctor admitted -- complicated relationship. Rather than looking foolish, Martha's love helped nurture the Doctor's humanity the way Love can melt an icy heart - or hearts, in The Doctor's case.

Nicely done! I like how confident Martha is in her own abilities, even when the Doctor doesn't always seem to notice. I also liked seeing the clips of her on Torchwood, since I haven't seen much of that show. ;)

@AnonymousCatt Martha, by being competent, intelligent, beautiful, and most-of-all open to change, was a breath of fresh air in the venerable Doctor Who series. She was the perfect complement to the Doctor, yet strongly independent and very resourceful - as vividly demonstrated in the year she walked the Earth and saved The Doctor & the world! I think Ten at some level realized he was falling for her, but acknowledged his feelings for a little too late ... at "The End of Time"!

this is why i cry for most of the martha/10 videos because they are so tender and sweet. i think david tennant himself in an interview was asked if freema had a boyfriend, it could just be me, but i think he sounded disappointed that she did. he said so himself that she lit up the screen on the show. so maybe not for martha/10 but maybe for david/freema. you never know.

@bobsbluebox Yes, he does it a lot. However,  I think that was more about David's own attraction to Freema than anything else. That said, I adore Martha Jones and I would have liked a Martha/Doctor pairing even though I am more of a MACK(Martha/Jack) fan.
