After pacing the Indianapolis 500 in its debut year, the Camaro was back at the Brickyard in 1969 with a new special Pace Car option package. Sold under RPO Z11, the 1969 Pace Cars were all Dover White RS/SS convertibles with orange houndstooth interiors, orange Z/28-style striping, white body sills and rear panels, Rally Wheels, bright exhaust tips, and cowl induction hoods. While most of the 3,675 replicas sold through Chev dealers were powered by the 350 smallblock, a small number were built with the L78 375-horsepower 396 backed by a Muncie four speed. This is one of those cars.
