Fired would be the temperature that the clay matures at. This is most accurately done with an electric kiln. Glazing refers to the temperature at which the glaze melts into glass and coats the clay with a glossy finish. An underglaze goes on first, then the actual glaze, and the underglaze is where you get the coloring from.

At Michael's, I was able to find both the ceramic and the air-dry clay. The last few ocarinas I made were of air-drying clay, but play it safe with the ceramic if you want them to be less fragile during shipping if you start to sell them after a while. Good luck!

I used to. Since I haven't made any since this last December, I wouldn't have any up until I started making them again. I still have clay, but, I'll have to buy more so I can actually fire it. up, yeah?
