The Glory of Cremona: A Violin by Joseph Guarneri del Gesu named The "Gibson" made in 1734 and played by Ruggiero Ricci. This famous concert violin has passed through the hands of many famous players as well as amateurs. It was first known in the hands of an officer of the Bank of England and later owned by the English player Alfred Gibson. Eventually it came into the hands of the great Polish virtuoso Bronisław Huberman (19 December 1882 16 June 1947) and its voice was heard in all the great concert halls of the world. more recently it was the Solo instrument of Ruggiero Ricci.
Joseph Guarneri made primarily violins for the streetmusicians, tinkers and the lot.
He turned out also many blanks: violins that are not laquered but just plain.
A. Stradivari turned out one violin per month (or thereabout) Guarneri one per week.
The best Guarneri s are from '30 - '40
Where is Guarneri's own violin? The ex-Viotti. That should be the best ever!

I listened to most of the videos like this, and this sounds better than an amati, and much better than a strad. This Del Gesu sounds amazing :)
