In 1960 programmed construction of fallout shelters was launched in Switzerland. They were to protect the Swiss against the eventual consequences of the cold war. Until 1991 enough shelters were completed for every citizen to have a place to hide from a nuclear strike. Among others, there exist tunnels under the Alps that could shelter 6,4 million people, while the total population of Switzerland amounts to approximately 7 mln. In Zurich alone there are two hundred sixty one thousand four hundred eighteen fallout shelters.
But Switzerland is also the title of an Electric Six album from the year 2006 as well as a community in Ohio, USA.
Besides, Switzerland is such a nice country, consequent, rational and able to calculate profits.
