As part of the Maryknoll Speaker Series, ORBIS author and famed Catholic Musician, John Michael Talbot, sits down with Interactive Media to discuss his career, ministry, and the "hermit within". http://www.maryknollsociety.org
@lucinda5131 the problem with that is there was 5 other churchs established as well so it was 5 against 1 Rome decided to split..if were gonna talk about the faith lets give both sides of the story.. and which church still looks more like the ancient church today is it Rome or orthodoxy.. Since Vatican II Romans look more like protestants and in fact even saints are being removed in many church's.. tradition is being lost and even many Catholics r going back to old latin masses..
@theflarpus Look into orthodoxy.. come and see.. I love my roman brothers however they have seriously contradicted themselves throughout the years I mean everybody has but they have really done some serious damage they have created the papacy into something that was never meant to be.. they continue to recreate the church I.E vatican II.. which has ushered in this new age relativism seen by pope john paul.. these are serious issues within the church..at a dogmatic political level.
John I enjoy your music. I hope you made the right choice. I struggle with how the Catholic church seems to me to draw people away from the simplicity of Christ crucified and put all of ones hope for salvation and how one is to worship God in the hands of others. If the catholic church is Gods choosen church how then does one explain away all of the brutality it has committed in the name of Jesus?
Such ignorance, however poetically expressed. The Catechism is based on the Word of God; Our Lord in John 20 passed on the power to forgive sins - as the Father sent me so I send you; Nothing unclean can enter heaven so it is the finished work of Christ which purifies us; Jesus went up the hill to pray, reclusion is not a rejection of the world but communion with the Holy Spirit in prayer; Upon the Rock of Peter Jesus built his church. Peacefulvines we see no contradiction. All is well.
@peacefulvines You may have your man-made catechism - I prefer the Word of God
You may have your confessional booth - I prefer sanctification from God in Jesus finished work
You may have your purgatory - I prefer being absent from this world and present with Jesus
You may have your reclusion - I prefer being in the world but not of it
You may have your pope - I prefer the rent veil, direct fellowship with the Father my Creator, the Spirit's fullness within, completed forgiveness in Jesus
@Sovreign0ne Yes, he absolutely did, and many men and women within the church worked to change abuses, helping the Church that Christ founded to grow stong and holier. There will always be sins within a Church. My point was that he threw out entire books! Protestants are missing parts of the Bible that would explain purgatory...books that even the Jews accept. Interesting that you think that what Jesus did on the cross is "minimized" when we celebrate just that every single Sunday. lol
@Sovreign0ne If you think that the Catholic Church teaches people to worship Mary as God...that is UNTRUE. Look into the history of the Bible. It wasn't until 500 years ago that Martin Luther threw out books that referenced purgatory in the Bible.... Luther's decided to throw out 7 books and make over 18 changes to fit his "opinion...in the Bible that Protestants read. Catholics read through the ENTIRE Bible every year, through our Last Supper Celebration (or Mass).
May God Bless you, John.

All you anti-Catholics, IF you took time to study the Bible with an open heart, AND, really
undersand it, you would become converts just like thousands are doing. May God open
your hearts and eyes so you may see the TRUE CHURCH THAT JESUS CHRIST started.
May God Bless you.

@peacefulvines - LOL, though my comment was directed not to you but to GG74K.
Ah yes, inculcation runs deep, even to the abandonment of simple, reasonable truth.
Certainly Luther had NO VALID REASON for his 95 thesis...
