Henry: [0:23:30] OK. Going back to the regular agenda, then. Any announcements? Any announcements from the district tonight? No. OK. Yes, yes, go ahead.

Meredith: [0:23:46] I just have, was a little confused about that public vote, because on Friday I went for my fingerprinting for my Maine state job and I heard from the police chief that the School Board was interviewing candidates for an interim superintendent and I was a little bit caught off guard by that. And then I personally witnessed 3 School Board members leaving the Durham police station conference room. So I just wondered if the Board might be able to clarify that.

Henry: [0:24:13] The, the supposed interviews were basically to find out what candidates might be out there and I was following up on that. There was no board quorum or anything that was involved in those interviews or talking to them. I also interviewed Dr. Tracy on a path that we because of his experience on what type of things we should do in this situation and we were given his advice and then we talked about educational programs that he's involved with which was quite enlightening.

Jocelyn: [0:24:50] I, I, I just want to point out that you did begin this discussion and say that as, as part of the planning that went into this decision you discussed options including with the current superintendent so I think that that information is clear and shouldn't come as a surprise that before taking a step like this you're going to consult other people. Obviously there is no interim superintendent and we've just defined a process and even had discussion about the process. So you know I, I think that's pretty clear and you know I would just finally say I think it's clear some sort of information is out there anyway based on the presence in this room so you know I would just ask that you know as we move forward to try to be respectful. You know we may disagree but if we don't have a respectful forum to talk about our future as a district and that's what we need to be talking about you know this is going to be a very difficult process. And, it's just going to be hard for everyone, including the children. So I would just ask everyone to remember to please be respectful as we get through this.

Henry: [0:25:52] Thank you. Any other district comments?

Krista: [0:25:56] Announcements. It should be announcements.

Henry: [0:25:57] Announcements, sorry. OK, correspondence.

Krista: [0:26:03] Board announcements.

Laura: [0:26:05] Excuse me.

Henry: [0:26:06] Excuse me, I'm sorry, Laura.

Laura: [0:26:07] I just want to say it was a really busy week last week in the high school and since the last meeting. I want to congratulate Celeste Best and John Bromley on the Science Showcase Exposition that they put on which had an incredible turnout. Mark Laforce on his Spring concert which also had one of the highest turnouts that we've seen in years. It was incredibly successful and quite inspiring. Power of One happened Wednesday night. That's an evening when all of our freshment have gone out and worked on projects that they've believed in to try to actually improve the world and educate older people about different causes. They raised over $16,000 and just did amazing things and I think learned a great deal and inspired a lot of adults as well as students, some of whom I believe wrote to the Board about that experience. Baccalaureate was Thursday night, the night before graduation. Students shared class memories, had performances and received scholarships. And, I just want to thank all the private individuals who have donated to those scholarships. Also there was a wonderful evening about This I Believe, which is based on the Public Radio commentary where students and people wrote essays and prepared presentations and videos of This I Believe and what they believe in to be values. My favorite essay began "This I Believe, hypocrisy is the greatest evil of all. All the great conflicts can be traced back to intentional lies and deception." I thought that was extremely inspiring. On a personal level one of the questions that I would like to ask is as you're looking for your new interim superintendent, I spent 19 months of my life on the Strategic Planning Committee. I missed 1 meeting. I sat through the evening of my 22nd anniversary at a Strategic Planning Committee meeting. We had a vision and a mission statement, and I'm curious about how those things will inform your search even for an interim because 1 year is an incredibly long amount of time in the life of a child. So, I'd like to know where those things went given the fact that while I spent that 19 months I was working 50 to 60 hours a week trying to help and support the teachers and students of this district. And I would hope that those words have some meaning that they seem to have disappeared.

Henry: [0:28:43] Correspondence.
