Landing for fuel, with a cross wind. Nearest airport with no cross wind landing is 35 miles with no fuel on the field

  • Was that emily with you? I barley know you but you take every thing so calmly. But how did you come across the An-2 shes a nice kite

  • Yes that was Emily... The company that I fly for, ownes the aircraft. This is our second An-2.

  • Please tell us more, any damage?...couldn't be to bad, everyone seemed to enjoyed it

  • Absolutely no damage, not even to my ego. It is not if but when. That was my first one in over 1300 hrs in An-2's.

  • yea this was gusting to about 15. you can do a full flap landing in much higher cross winds because your forward speed is down to about 20. you have one chance to flare before "touch down". i was unable to do this because i didnt want to snap the airplane in half because it was almost flying at gross weight.

  • Don't need to feel stupid. The fact that you noticed it was going the wrong way is more than most people would catch.

  • Was the audio on this disabled because the background music that was on the radio? This is getting absurd.

  • Snoopy in the sky with diamonds. WROOOM.

  • @pilotcoolbiz I always thought it was there are those who have and those who will

  • He didnt block rear weel. This is normal in an-2

  • @timandrew1 you can land it anywhere, that's what it's built for and size of the field you need can be really, i mean really small coz in strong headwind An can litterally fly backwards

  • is the antonov known for groundlooping on crosswinds a lot?

  • I'm told, that you can land on the grass if you feel you need to. And, if you can't make it to a field cause of, lack of fuel, you can land across the field, that's right, across, landing on grass, asphalt, grass, asphalt, but you must tell tower, if there's one. Am I right?

  • Good job keeping the shiney side up and the rubber parts down!

  • It sure happens fast, doesn't it? I came real close in a Stearman once. Luckily the old man in the back saved it. RIP Milt.

  • Shit WMG

  • Right, but then you should also know that stopping on an active runway and stepping out of the plane would be irresponsible and less safe than taxiing off the runway and shutting the engines off before performing a walkaround. Plus, the pilots actions after the fact don't change the fact that it was an unintentional hard loop in the horizontal, a ground loop.
