This moron who they call president of Colombia University even do not know how to welcome a guest he invited to his university... This an exra ordinory example about how ignorant, stupid and idiots are those Americans. I just wonder what moral values he has to give to his students.

How can you invite someone like Ahmadinejad and insult him in the opening speech....that is extremely shameful of such a "free" democratic university such as Columbia University. True Mahmoud is not the most moral person in the nation but this event in Columbia is full of hypocrites and biased individuals. Shame on you Lee Bolinger, for your attention seeking insults.

As if the invitation to a holocaust denier that is the Iranian president (also someone who thinks America is the great Satan) wasn't enough of an insult to ordinary American you suggest that we should not even challenge him? What a disgrace.

Dude are you kidding me? We should be commending Bollinger for calling Ahmadinajad out on what he's done. At least hes leveling the criticism to him personally and hes allowed the opportunity to respond. But saying we shouldn't call people out on human rights abuses cause it might hurt their feelings is ridiculous.

You, my friend, are totally missing my point. I never said that Ahmadinejad should not be criticized, but the way that Bollinger did it was not right. Columbia U invited Ahmadinejad, not the other way around. The fact that Bollinger insult him in the opening, is merely showboating publicity. If he really oppose Ahmadinejad, he should have not invited him to speak period because you know exactly what you are going to get from Ahmadinejad.

yeah i actually have to agree with you here...he was INVITED...setting aside politics, it's common courtesy to not insult another world leader while you invited him for educational purposes. I thought the U.S. should be setting an example here...sigh, why does this seem like common sense to some and a difficult task to people with PhDs.

For someone who speaks so much of free speech and arguments, he pretty much slandered the Iranian president. I dont know wat kind of university columbia is, but if that man is a good representation of it then its a poor university.

Universities should always be open to discussion and not petty personal attacks.

my sincere apology for a belated reply.I assume you are an american jew,i hold nothing against you or USA or judaism(i am atheist and neither christian nor muslim,so..)we have democracy here too,so does some 70-80 other countries, but when you sing star spangled banner 24*7,you may not find time to notice that. But your "working democracy" killed more than 500000civilians in different countries of different religion in last 50 years for keeping worldpeace..Shalom

there is one thing common between this professor and you..arrogance.You know that you are the best and you can not do anything wrong.yours is the only country to drop nuclear bomb on civilian area, still you lecture so much on nuclear proliferation, biggest CO2 emitter(total or per capita, both wise)and blame global warming on developing countries.you messed up afganistan, talibans are on the rise again.Your planes drop bomb on civilians mistaking for terrorists and later makes 2 minute apologies
