Probably my most advanced scripting project to date. A heavily modified version of painfully transcribed audio tutorial. Scripting clocks in SL is quite challenging due to the bizarre method used by the build system to represent rotation.

Anyhow, I love clocks, I am fixated on the concept of time. Originally this tower was the central part of my "welcome area" which was based loosely on a mall in Reno which incidentally had a similar clock tower in one of the many relaxation areas positioned strategically throughout the complex.

Download or view all 3 scripts (second hand, minute hand, hour hand) used in the clock as a single text file here:

  • your script in the description doesnt work just right. it just rotates the prim on the Z axis when it should be the Y but after that i found that it ticks anti clockwise... still fair play on the model

  • @seanyfarrell It works, it's just tricky to get right. The direction changes when you link.

  • how did you make the body of the tower? im trying to make my prims rotate like yours but its not going well..

  • @seanyfarrell Unfortunately there's no way to explain something so advanced in a single comment. You might want to watch my playlist of videos on the absolute basics of building - although rotating prims is not covered, using the grid and camera is, which may be why you're having trouble.

  • very nice

  • Thanks!

  • @neotoy cheers anyway. Im building a clock for a college course of mine =/ not going well

  • That's actually pretty impressive. And doing all the scripting by yourself, that must've been fun. Nice job on that.
