How Rome converted to christianity, how Zoroastrianism was side lined in Iran - these forces where at work even from those ages. As far as what I learned about the Christ, he basically opposed priesthood and for the same reason he was crucfied. End of the day christianity got intitutionalised and is again in the clutches of priests.
Instances of acculturation and expropriation of hindu religious symbols, customs and traditions can be seen a lot in India. The sacred symbols or practices/festivals etc of the hindu tradition are now slowly becoming part of the ecclesiastical customs and practices. The Church is taking advantage of apathy of Hindus in India. This is just a part of a whispering campaign promoted by some heavily influential christian syndicate with clear cut objectives and hidden agenda.
