Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports or PBIS, is a program that takes on different forms at each school. But in every case, PBIS helps to reward students who focus on their studies.

PBIS is a great tool when used the correct way. It can be an amazing tool with special needs students and there is a problem if children are being left behind for staying home sick. I think you have had a bad experience with PBIS used in the wrong manner. Please don't smear something you don't understand correctly.

    Individuality makes us weak.

PBIS is trying to make our children into little cookie cutter molds. it also discriminates against the children with disabilities and special needs. Special needs children that have to miss school for Doctor appointments are excluded from the rewards day and at our school made it sit out the party and do 'busy work!. Essentually punish work for being sick. google our petition to revise the PBIS plan, there is a link there to vote.

This is not PBIS! PBIS does not reply on response cost systems. PBIS flips systems like this so that students find appropriate behavior more effective at getting attention than problem behavior. Much of my work as a PBIS facilitator is on helping schools rid themselves of universal response cost systems.
