People with an under-active thyroid should eliminate Splenda from the diet, which can cause long-term weight gain, and they should include omega-3 fatty acids and iodine through sea vegetables in the diet. Eat right to counteract an under-active thyroid with health information from a registered dietitian and licensed nutritionist in this free video on healthy eating.

  • but then again, for people that try to lose weight and exercise every minute when they aren't working or have school, and also have a very strict diet, but they still don't get anywhere, because of their medical condition it really is heartbreaking. :( especially when your a 17 year old teenage girl. i know it's not the end of the world, nor am I gonna give up, it justs annoying.

  • i have underactve throid like my 3 sisters and mum, it is def harder to keep the weight off if you eat crap BUT if you eat propally its quite easy to stay within right weight.

  • What about Stevia or Xylitol. Stevia of which being promoted as a natural substitute however it seems to be ust as much processed as sugar and xylitol another sugar substitute touted in diet books ... whats your take?

It's really cute how overweight people spend all this time to make up excuses (bad genes, medical conditions, blah blah) instead of spending that time going for a walk. People like that deserve to stay fat. Making excuses will not make them more popular or understood. It's just weakness. Jeez!

  • @linkintek06 Get educated!

  • @linkintek06 Try going with an undiagnosed thyroid problem for years and see if that doesn't pack on the pounds. Also there are alot of people with thyroid problems that also have other underlying metabolic problems like PCOS, which can cause weight gain. Another thing to think about is that if your tired all the time how can you work out to burn off all those calories? And lastly most of us with thyroid problems can eat next to nothing and still gain weight.

  • My doctor has told me that alot of people always blame the Hypothyroid disease for weight gain...and sometimes they think they gain 30 - 50 pounds or more because of the diease, the disease itself does not contribute that much to your weigh gain, so i guess theres alot of whimps, its much based on your diet youre contributing to the disease, suck it up and eat well.
