Synopsis :

This video is produced for a school project with reference to the Harvard case study, Phase 0: Introducing New Services at IDEO (A).

In this video, Reginald and Xinli are junior employees of product design firm, IDEO. The company's client, Simmons, is a company which manufactures mattresses. After an initial engagement (Phase 0) with IDEO to develop new designs for its mattresses and beds, Simmons appears to be unenthusiastic about continuing with the engagement.

In the first segment of the video, Reginald and Xinli discuss the problems inherent in the Simmons project to understand why there was a lack of response from Simmons.

In the second segment, ways to regain Simmons confidence in IDEO were discussed.

Following which, Xinli met up with Kurt Ling, the representative from Simmons, to apologize and offer them an incentive of a free user survey.

The process of carrying out a user survey was then filmed, with Reginald getting two users to try out the prototypes that IDEO has come up with.

The last part of the video shows how a more effective Phase 0 engagement can be carried out in future to prevent a repeat of the Simmons case.

  • I was wondering y made little eye contact.

You did quite an extensive analysis of your team progress. Besides, I like the fact that you give us heading/guideline before each scene so it kinda directs me where you are heading.

The hissing sound should have been minimised but good effort in covering it with subtitles of important message.

Overall, it's entertaining and bring your main ideas across. Good job. =)

  • erm.. overall was a okay video.

improvements most likely on parts of the videoing and the sound quality. i felt that the subtitles were slightly too fast. just a tad slower would be better for reading.

but otherwise the video is precise and easily understood. the idea is also conveyed without confusion. good job! =P

  • Organised and coherent presentation. Good!

  • - content: i actually understand where you're getting at, and this kind of office stuff usually flies right over my head. good job.

    - overall: surprisingly engaging for what it is. i'm just being nitpicky on the technical aspect for obvious reasons. good effort.

reg, maybe do another presentation as a spoof of 'the office' (bbc, nbc, pick your poison). that'll be a hoot

  • halo, reg! comments:

    - technical: two-shots are GREAT, but switch it up a little with shot/reverse-shots. crude audio during the 2nd half: uneven volume and reverb--can be fixed using any kind of NLE software really. good transitions; effective use of title cards. during the graphics bit it was a little distracting... why not convert powerpoint to video or use after effects rather than shoot a monitor? need music the acting is pretty convincing.

  • i have to agree with the others. apart from the sound problem, the whole thing is just right. i'm especially like the flow of presentation and the use of diagram. it really helps me to understand the problem.

perhaps next time you may want to improve on the subtitles. it moves so fast that i had a hard time to understand it.

    overall, good job =)!

  • flow is good and systematic. good intro and analysis of the case. the use of diagram is helpful. the solution seems to be ideal.

yet in terms of creativity, the video is lacking. it's like watching a presentation. sound is bad. subtitle is hard to be read (either too small or move to fast).

    overall, it's okay.

  • this is an excellent presentation. good analysis and depth. i especially like the fact that there are subtitles to give the viewer enough time to understand the flow of the presentation. keep up the good work! -bernadine-

  • haaha finally I can post larr!

Okie larr not too bad video! But I can do better muahhahaha!

The storyline was clear and speeches was succinct and easily understood. Furthermore certain parts were emphasized with subtitles to point out certain parts.

Thought process was shown and reflection of the people. Interviews were included too.

Probably you can improve on lightings in some of your scenes tho!
