  • Crazy! Did you see it start? I wonder if it was a cigarette thrown on Amity.

  • A cigarette out the window on Amity Rd was my first thought too. We got there right as the fire was heading up the ridge. People on the scene before us said it was a downed power line.

  • umm, the house you show the most was mine. it started cause there was an idaho power station at the bottom of that hill. something sparked and lit all the brush and the wind blew the fire up the hill.

  • that fire took them 5 hours to put out. i was there

  • yeah, getting evacuated sucked. i got 2 1/2 hours of sleep that night, at the most. we jumped in the cars with the animals and left so fast i 4got my shoes...:(

im so thankful my house was spared! pray 4 those who dont have homes. or help them in any way u can!

that was such a terrible day...

  • My house is surrounded by homes that have burned down. I keep telling myself that I feel so blessed to still have a home to go to. But I also keep asking myself, 'why was my house spared, while everything around me is in ashes'. The only causelties is a dog and a person that has yet to be identifies.

  • Did anyone hear those explosions later on? I cant believe it spread that fast

  • A downed power line would make the most obvious sense. I grew up in Columbia Village about 5 blocks from where this took place (lived there 14 years, my parents still live there) and I have seen some insane winds blow through there over the years. I live by the airport now and my whole house was creeking from the winds last night. I cant imagine how strong the winds must have been up there. I actually know a few people effected. It was pretty sad watching where I grew up be engulfed in flames.

  • my dad almost went on that fire but he got called on a another one.

  • that made huge news in idaho falls and pocatello
