The glue was really sticky! Needed the extra force of the air, but would have been nice if the tool was very wide and did more than a tiny section. This was definitely a job I never want to do again though.

try using an air-mutt (that tool you have there) to remove 1 1/2 inch plaster on terracotta brick on ceilings and walls. The trick is to have the blade wedge itself between the plaster and brick, that way the air-mutt supports itself, thus allowing you to last for 8 hrs. BTW, if those tiles were not 9"x9", then they were probably not asbestos. Though, some 12"x12" contain asbo, it is rare. It doesn't look like there is black mastic under the tile (an asbo adhesive used with asbo tile).

Hey, thanks for the info! I wish we'd known about this back when we were doing the job.

BTW we did get the tile tested, and it did contain asbestos. The mastic was fine though. I just hope our masks were good enough.

@uvulopalatopharyngo early signs of asbestos related disease is frequent headaches and a unwell feeling that seems to hang around (poor health)like a cold eg tired fevers cough

As long as the mask is a p3 you will be ok we had a 11 floors of tiles like that it took us 5 weeks and that's wive 8 of us!!

Dang, it is going to take you forever to get that tile off with that air-mutt. Why can't you just pop them with a T-bar?
