  • Carnivores such as felines and canines eat grass to obtain folic acid which is found in the juices of grass and plants. Folic acid is needed for the production of haemoglobin and is not found in meat, except in liver and kidneys which they do not tend to eat. Nor is it found in most cat foods, which is why your house cat may start to nibble on your favourite plant if not allowed outside.
