God bless these men that have their hearts in the right place.. laying down their lives for the lives of thousands...

well now we know that you can't build levees that hold back the fury of nature. it's so stupid of mankind to think they can do such things. best to move uphill, unfortunately people didn't realize this before katrina broke the levee.

@TheJaking14 no such thing as a natural disaster? pretty sure there where hurricanes, earthquakes ect. before us.
budgets tight in America thanks to trillions of dollars in dept, our infrastructure is incredibly weak everywhere, a storm like this could hit anywhere and knock out damms and bridges. just so happened the geniuses who designed this city put it below sea level. i dont think the founding fathers would be proud anyway

Chalmette was hit hard by Katrina,up to 22 ft of water.
I lost everything> My house (&everything in it), my "fairly" new car, &my job. A friend of mine died in his attic, another one drowned. It was horrible.
Our friends & family were scattered all over the country.
It took me a long time to get over it (years).
We had to demolish the house, with everything still in it,all covered with thick mud, chemicals&oil. Really disgusting!
The "MRGO", with it's MULTIPLE levee breaks destroyed our town.

I think it's ridiculous that everyone is pointing fingers and blaming this on someone. It was out of a lot of peoples control. You should all be ashamed; you should be remembering those who were lost and died in Katrina, not bashing the government and hating on separate races.

@042008alli I know, right? I live in the gulf coast on Mississippi, and we got hit hard.

@yellowmusicfreak you're wrong buddy. Theres no such thing as natural disaster , the effects of them are man made. The Federal and Local government neglected the levees, the army corps of engineers even said so, the bush administration siphoned off funds mean for strengthen the levees and retaining walls to to the point where only 60 percent of the construction was done. white people long left the center city and the hardest hit were blacks , especially those in public housing close to levees

lol at blaming the government
Maybe the niggers should have left town because you know there below sea level and there is a big ass storm coming for them
@hstg98 So, I take it you think nature is racist too, it "decided" to target the black neighborhoods huh? How did the "government" abandon them? If government leaders knew in advance, you think they said "oh hey, let's let the blacks drown and save the white folks", stupidest shit I've read today...HELLO, NEWSFLASH, Nola is inhabited by mostly blacks, so that kinda explains those "numbers" you mentioned...it's like an earthquake in Utah, and saying "mostly Mormons were killed"....

KATRINA DID NOT JUST HIT NEW ORLEANS!!! The damage here in Mississippi was horrific. In fact, what damaged NO was the levee break. What do you expect when you build an entire city below sea level. The point is it wasn't just black people who were affected. Everyone was! FEMA screwed everyone.
