Polo G40 with Lysholm supercharger - hilarious noise!

Polo G40 with Lysholm charger, made the older generation think the war was back on, and scared children into crying and grabbing their mothers! 10 out of 10 for arsehole factor.

Part of the reason that it's so loud is because it's being run in a blow-through configuration. This is fine for centrifugal (i.e. Rotrex) or even roots-type (Eaton) blowers, but the twin-screw blowers have an internal compression ratio. The compressed air pops out of the charger's outlet port in little packets, resulting in the 'singing' sound. if the throttle had been placed before the charger, it would have reduced the noise, heat and parasitic load on the engine on all but full-throttle.
