I'm really glad you posted this video. I drove this at night, in fog and rain, and really wanted to see the road that made my heart race, in the daytime.

Too bad no ones mentioned the curve where the big hillslide occured. My grandmother said it sounded like an atomic bomb going off. It's on the westbound side in the sharpest turn. Maybe that's why the can't put anymore lanes in? Hummmm...

I'm from Sewanee, and my parents live in Monteagle, and i've done the west side of the mtn at 120 myself...in a 1967 Galaxy 500. At the bottom i was at 147. Man i was stupid. It was amazing then but now scare the bejezis out of me!
Nice ride! Enjoyed the music as well. Who was the artist?

@n5lr TThanks, the music is from The Pat Metheny Group, there should be a link for it just under the video screen to the right.

Great video of the climb & descent of Monteagle mountain. I've lived up here since 1997 and the truck traffic has increased at least 5-fold. Thanks for capturing the essence of the trip to the 'top of the rock'. It's a long haul but the polution free air and friendly neighbors are well worth it. Keep up the good work and cross the Henry Hudson bridge for me sometime -- it's the neighborhood I grew up in.

I wondered what it would be like living up there, I enjoy that drive. NYC is not a video freindly place and I probably won't take any chances there. I did photo & cross the Henry Hudson Bridge a few years ago though :)

How come all the trees are brown? (@2:16) (Ahh.. it's winter over there isn't it!) Does it really get that cold so that the trees loose there leaves? (I live in the tropics with rainforest, so it's not something I'm accustomed to).

Yes and yes! and the leaves beautifly change colors in the fall before they fall.
