I know that the Palestinians have very real greviences with Israeli hegemony in the region. It is a horrible state of affairs. But when these anti-Israeli, anti-American guys and gals talk about it I suspect I am witnessing what George Orwell described as "duckspeak": the voice is working but not the brain.

Not only that, Al, but the Arabs weren't "displaced" until the absentee owners -- mostly in Syria -- sold it to the Zionists, who bought it fair and square! My grandma got evicted by a new owner when I was little... So, do I have a right to blow up his family???

Livingstone's comment that the tiny sliver of desert given to Jews displaces Arabs is absurd. The combined land size of Arab countries is 650 times the size of Israel -- i.e., Israel is the size of New Jersey, and the Arab countries are the size of the United States, all of Central America, and Mexico combined.
