Is this also a soundtrack in sims 3?
but it's in a lower key

@lichtbroeder Indeed sir, Indeed. Now we have chicks with half their ass hanging out booty popping to computerized rap beats. It might be sexually appealing but it has absolutely zero class, style, or "zazz".
-
@lichtbroeder Yes, but remember, only very few members of society were given the privilage to be part of this culture. Most people lived in poverty back then.

Amazing music and staging! The "etc." in this title (and the only piece that has been left out, actually) is "Hornpipe"; the first piece of PART III is "Alla Hornpipe". For people looking for this music elsewhere, these two titles should not be mixed up :)

@lichtbroeder You are of course right, the subtlety I would like to draw your attention to lies in the fact that when two loving souls meet, everything becomes impregnated with sensuality, even peeking over the top of a fan. The thing is when such dances are enacted out of the historical context, and far more important out of the personal relationships that tied the gentleman and woman of the court, you cannot tell what is rigid and stiff performance from what is sensual, living and true emotion
-
@vonMohl I'm sure you could cite all kinds of dances that are "sexier" than this, in your opinion, but what's your point? In the context of it's time, the dance we see here most certainly was flirtatious and sexy, and it still is. We aren't just "sexy" when we reveal, touch, or gyrate our bodies. We are also sexy, and convey desire or interest with our eyes and facial expressions. Many an 18th century gentleman became enamored of a woman whom he first saw peeking at him over the top of a fan.
-
@lichtbroeder flirty ? sexy ? Have you ever watched a argentine Tango ? This is elegant for sure, but pompous, rigid and marionnette-like as well.
-
@lichtbroeder hmm that link doesn't work for some reason, search for "gentlemen's bar"
Totally sensuous, flirty, coy, elegant, intimate, stately, warm, human and, yes, sexy, without a single body part being revealed, (well, not much). God, what we and our culture have lost.

@zilbiol Meaning what? Plenty of non-aristocrats did and do nothing with their lives, and many aristocrats founded schools, hospitals and libraries, and are heavily involved with charities. I'll take a good human being, regardless of what "class" they were born into any day over a self absorbed one, and the latter come in many flavors, rich, poor and in between.
