  • I take it the octagon is the out of bounds? That's a pretty tight area to push in. Does Xing Yi actually have push hands or is this your own innovation?

  • @WarriorBoy The Octagon is out of bounds, it was easier to put on the floor than a circle. This is my own innovation. I combined it with my rules for Wuji Push hands to include my xingyi students. The Wuji push hands were created to assist my jiujitsu students and mma fighters.

  • @WujiSystemsVancouver: That's really interesting! And I'm not one of these traditionalists that will rail against you for making your methods of training, that is what will help these arts evolve.

From your clips it seems that you're doing the kind of internal/CMA that needs to be more prevalent, that is, more contact/sparring and less talk and theory.

    Good training to you!

  • @WarriorBoy @WarriorBoy I agree wholeheartedly. Traditonal practice is important and a critical part of learning an art, however the combat applications need to be updated for modern times or risk stagnation and sinking into impracticality. As my teacher would say, it would be an art of paper tigers, not much better than dancing.

  • good to see some other xing yi guys training realistically

  • @WujiSystemsVancouver: It's nice to find someone who feels the same way. I'm passionate about the internal styles however I've been forced to move on past them in recent years due to not having teachers such as yourself and your teacher readily available to me.

But it's this kind of training that gives me hope about the future of these systems.
