She is not the only athlete that has done this. Me being from the CAribbean I've seen many Cuban Athletes running from communism. The problem is not the religion is with the society she grew up which interprets the word of God @ their convenience like many others do.Seeing a different world in Italy were freedom and equality exists must be the greatest thing, and I don't blame her.I hope she and her family are fine. My best wishes and blessing for all of them.

For those of you judging her, where do we live? Didn't we leave Afghanistan to set out for a better life? Why can't see do the same? I wish her well in all she does! Life in our homeland is very difficult, I have been there and seen what women go through. I think that we should look at ourselves before we judge her. This was her only chance to defict and start a new life. I hope that she can be reunited with her family some day and I wish her the best! It took a lot of courage to do what she did

How embarrassing !!!!! how the hell do you run away before you even compete. I wish her pain and misery washing dishes and giving birth to more cowards just like her self.

Why is she a coward? Cowards are the people who threatened her and those who try to keep women under oppression.

Good for her and for all the women to find courage in her example!
