@Danny11354 Wow, that's a little rough... Neighborhoods go through changes over time and that's what happens. The city expanded into Queens and made it more like Manhattan than anything else... Selfishly abandoned?! No, my grandparents moved to Flushing '50 and when my father bought a house, he decided on Long Island so he could raise his kids (me and my sister) in an area where we had a backyard to play and the area was safer. Can you blame him?

Flushing Main street is now a Hot Spot for Human Trafficking ;-(

@ThinkFastBoom93 Flushing was always dirty actually, but I really feel for you there as I do my mother, one of the last of the original Flushing before many years ago when it was allowed that they exclude English on their signs, a very strange thing, and alienate the original inhabitants and discourage others who speak the American language. I asked my mom's neighbor something, he just shook his head, No english and left. We became extinct because of stupid laws and lack of fair ones.

I grew up on Main Street, and came home from foster care just a few months after this parade. I would have sure remembered it. I know the stores.. I was there recently. We do not live in the same world any more, but I hope we can return to a humane one fast. Thanks for this... dina

It's a shame how the Americans got pushed out

so this is flushing way before my time
i was born in 93 so i pretty much grew up with flushing being asia town
i how today's flushing is dirty
and that as an american who grew up with non east asian parents 99% of the signs in flushing are too foreign for me to understand
it's being ignorant to the big part of american culture, the English language
i don't mind the east asian people though.. plus you get good food for cheap there and business boom there is good for the economy you know

i always go to mainstreet to buy games at gamestop

@ceelo4 You still here? I thought you said you were doing us all a favor & getting the f*ck out of what's already the greatest country in the world that will be made that much greater by your exit. I'd feel alot better knowing you were gone, but the last cycle of real estate losses were precipitated by thousands of people cashing in on lax lending requirements against unsustainable land valuation. Happens every twenty years or so, not by some secret cabal. How's THAT for ignorant, f*ckwit?
No Thanksgiving parade on Main Street these days, though a very colorful dragon dances through the streets at the Asian Lunar New Year parade in either January or February..
But to all the old white people leaving comments about how great Flushing used to be, if you think Flushing has gone for the worse then you have no one but yourselves to blame. You decided to sell your homes to leave New York City, and then you get mad when Asians move into a neighborhood you selfishly abandoned?
