A video showing you how to get free TV and BBC iPlayer on your Samsung Omnia HD i8910
I am not affiliated with any of the websites used or named in this video.
Please make sure you have a valid TV License for your home address before using this service.
Skyfire is a free browser for Symbian O/S and also Windows Phones.
tvcatchup is also a free service for watching Live TV on your iPhone but works on the Omnia HD i8910 through the Skyfire browser.
The channels that you can access are most of those that you can get through Freeview TV sets.
The TV Channels do not go into full screen (or if they do I have not managed it as of yet, I will post an update if i find out how to) but you can scroll the screen WITHOUT zoom in in or out to get it to the equivalent of full screen. Quality is good better than that seen in camera. Apologies on the poor camera quality I only made this so you can all watch TV like me. =]
You will need a 3G, 3G+ or 3.5G signal to use this service.

Thanks for watching!
Enjoy having TV and iPlayer on your Samsung Omnia HD i8910!!!

  • I went to the web address you listed via my i8910. it goes to a page that gives me the option of getting skyfire via ovi and another option for other phones.

I go for the other phones option and it takes me to a page which gives me the option between android, nokia symbian and windows mobile. as the i8910 runs on symbian, i click the nokia option. it just sends me back to the beginning page you told us to go to...

Hope that made sense.... am i doing something wrong...?

  • @benbenjilali Go to the website and download it on your computer and install it via PC Studio for SkyFire.

Then tvcatchup will work once SkyFire is installed.

  • tried this and it tells me ovi store is not available for device...which is an i8910

    help!

  • @benbenjilali I didn't mention the Ovi Store anywhere in the post. The Ovi Store is for Nokia's not Samsung's. Where are you trying to download SkyFire from?

  • thanks for the tip, i had this on my iPhone 3G too

  • @silverstorm848 Ye that's how I found out about it. Someone that I work with had the 3G and used this. I just found that SkyFire was the only browser on the i8910 to be able to use it. And I get my iPhone 3GS tomorrow =] I can't wait! Was going to get a 4G until I found out about all the problems with it. Will probably get it if they improve it.

Glad you got it working OK.

  • @benbenjilali google skyfire.sis

  • I don't think so. I had someone from Portugal say that it didn't work for them. But when was in France two weeks ago I tried it there and it worked fine. SO I can only suggest trying it. You could also try seeing if there is an American version of TVCatchUp for the free American channels (I don't know how American TV Works so I don't know if there are any free channels). You could always check though. Skyfire codecs allow watching sports from p2p4u and atdhe where other browsers don't.

  • does it work if u live in america
