So I help run and judge the Truckin Nationals at Firebird Raceway here in Az. each year... I had a friend come out to help get everything situated last year and decided to pull in a favor for him. They have an offroad course designed to tax custom offroad rigs... he really wanted to see what his bone stock '03 4runner could do on it- after watching the 'custom' rigs, he knew he could at least keep up! The last day of competition @ about 7 am I managed to get him 1 run...

He drove his truck down to the competition area, got a helmet, and went through the briefing. Without getting to walk the course, or take a warm up lap, they set him loose! CD player blaring, windows down, and catchin air. He ended up like 4 seconds behind the 1st place time... not bad considering he missed a turn which got time added and the top 3 trucks were full custom rock crawlers/offroad rigs and had somewhere around $50k+ wrapped up in them! They even announced over the loudspeaker that they were having one of the car show judges make a pass. The crowd started cheering quite nicely when he caught air...

Keep in mind- this is only a couple seconds of the run...

Check it out!!!

  • I have 99 and it is very real :), maybe you said that cause, everybody has one in their dreams ...

  • I agree, the 4th generation V8's are quite impressive and can definitely take the beating. I own an 06' V8 SR5 and it's an animal in the off-road. I've been everywhere with it... coast...river rock beds....sandunes...in the brush... It has handled everything in the country that I have thrown at it and has never let me down.... the dependability, durability, and quality of construction in this truck is superb. It's proven that to me.

  • Yes, the video is crappy because it was taken from the opposite side of the track with a cheap camcorder. it did get quite a bit of air but is hard to see in this video. Yes there are more impressive stunts but this is %100 stock - even the factory tires. And NO, it did not need an alignment (that surprised me). And the newer 4Runner is quite impressive compared to the old ones especially if you get the Sport 4WD V8. I've owned 3 over the last 17 years and this one can really take a beating.

  • thats not a 4runner because the only real ones are 87-95

  • Who wouldn't think that's a 4runner? I own one, and that is a 4RUNNER.

  • you need to redo and zoom in because I can't tell if you're even getting any air. that shit is weak

  • i guess its semi impressive based on that its stock and newer i prob wouldnt jump it like that but it looked fuckin fun

  • yes it is you mental patient
