Taken at 1:54pm, while the fire was still new. This view is from Toll Road. Sun was actually blacked out for some periods of 5-10 minutes, it got so hazy.

  • A heartfelt thank you to the well-wishers.

    It's pronounced "wah-show".

I may upload a video of the flames that are visible soon, but don't count on it obviously. This video was taken 4 hours ago when the fire was essentially brand new. For those not living in Reno or who haven't been able to pay attention to local news, the fire's at "about 3,000" acres and 0% containment...State of Emergency was declared around 4pm by gov. Sandoval.

  • I'm currently hoping this fire doesn't come near me...

  • @OddFutureFlow Definitely, same here...I've been able to see the flames that are right nearby Galena High school veeeery clearly in the darkness. Also, the roads behind me leading to Virginia City have had a SOLID line of cars snaking up it for at least 2 hours with people trying to get out. It's been that way since about 4pm.

The "affected area" map is within 1.5 miles of my home. That entire ridgeline is lit up like an inferno....fingers crossed - tightly!!

  • @Baboosi1 did your home stay safe?!??!

  • @JJJMMM15 Yes, yes - everything fine here for my family and with my grandparents as well. My younger brother had one of his friends over for the night because his family was so scattered. Their house was within half a mile of where it started, but thankfully remains unharmed. The hill from my other two videos is almost completely blackened, and a good number of nearby roads are unusable.

Thank you again for your concern; always nice to know someone cares when you're in a situation like this.

    :]
