Dirge of the Dead Opening (Rough Cut)

The opening of the Mad Cow's new zombie flick - Dirge of the Dead! It'll be at least 7 weeks until it's finished, probably a bit longer, so I'll be uploading what we did of Powers and a small film Rob and I did a while ago entitled "The Radio". Then I'll just do trailers and stuff for this.

I'm pretty proud of it - I'm only unsure about the zombie sound effects. I may try and get Sam (our zombie) to record some of his own, then use some sound-editing software to distort it. I'm ALSO unsure about the music I've used from Day of the Dead. It doesn't really go. If I find some cool tracks from something like 28 Days/Weeks Later, I may use them instead. But I DID look for a while for tracks from 28 Day/Weeks Later and didn't find anything that I thought could fit. I may try and find a synthesizer and make my own music for once.

Yes, I think you should get your zombies try to make those noises while actually filming. It was very good but: there was no screams whatsoever from the guy running away, and so it somehow...lacked edge. But it looks quite good, oh and your zombies could have a bit of blood on their trousers, but yeah, otherwise good.

Screams... Nah.... Too cliché ;). And as for blood on the trousers, we literally weren't allowed. But his shirt is VERY ripped so that's cool.

Try and get some really cheap clothes from charity shops that you can mess around with, that'd help loads =p i agree with what potterbean said, too much life in his eyes too, and the part where he falls, to crawl after him for a few seconds, AND as i said on MSN, make up! ye needs more... just a little more of a grimey dead look XD not too much, like... just a tad =>

I have no more money to get stuff from charity shops xD As for the eyes, we've made them look more dead when we filmed the most latest bit with zombies. Plus, I've re-edited this so you don't really see his eyes move...

actually,,,,zombies can tun about as fast as a normal person if their legs arnt too damaged when they are zombified,,,,,but they will even tually lose strength in their legs after bein dead for so long,,,,,and they will start to limp

yeah hi.  I wanted to throw out there that the acting in this film isn't atrocious. But you obviously have the wrong interpretation of the undead. Zombies obviously cant move faster than 1.9 mph. And they do not have the brain capacity to locate someone as you pictured. And who in the right mind would hide in a forest from one zombie?

Also, you're title in no way relates to the film. And can you please explain how the first zombie came to be? You're story is full of holes.

you should get a few better sound effects, and to make him look even more dead, tell sam to stare off into nowhere, so it looks as if he doesnt know where he is going.

I liked it but there are a few minor things to point out:

1)he should be making the noise! it sounds terrible as it is, sorry.

2)he has too much automotive function! fair enough when he gets back up from the original crouch but when he stumples i think he should fall and start crawling after him.!

And finally he has too much life in his eyes! he is basically dead make him seem like it!
