@jacksawild Wow, I made that comment 3 years ago. Just because independent news media "seemed" left leaning to me doesn't mean I'm an extreme right-wing fascist. I didn't say whether or not I agreed with the left wing bias that I felt Independent media had, just that some people might not like it. I didn't make any statements as to my own personal political standing so I don't see how you can jump to that conclusion.

@jhhwild Perhaps it seems to you like it leans toward the left because what you view as balanced is so heavily leaning toward the right. See fascism.

nice 1
Independent news media seems to be more biased towards the left which may turn a lot of people away from it. Even if there was a "new independent media" the ratings wouldn't be as good for it because people don't want to think about stuff, they want to be entertained. If nobody is watching eventually independent news sources might employ the same tactics as "corporate" media to try and get more people to watch.

For right now independent media is still independent, and should be supported so they can survive without become corporatized.

So called "non-profit independant media" is operating under the exact same commercial, political and social paradigms as the explicitly for-profit media. The information disseminated through these organizations goes through the same filters of political bias (ie. the opinions of the owners, editors and journalists) as the rest of the media and is just as likely to be inaccurate.

that is not true, - there is no such thing as objectively and so media is always biases by personal views. However, large corporations have a huge complex of conflicts of interest (commercial) that filter the news. They also have filters from commercial advertising, which most non-profits do not.

They also have what's called a bottom line filter - they are trying to make a profit by selling our eyes to advertisers - whereas most non-profits have a public interest mandate, and as such are trying to inform the public. I'm afraid you do not know what you are talking about.
