A part of me died when TCM ditched this for their new, new age promo that makes this great old shorts seem like abstract hippy independent shorts or college experimental films. I remember if my grandma wasn't watching the news or reality tv (she's kind of an embarrassment to my family) she'd watch TCM and she got me hooked. Everytime this intro would come on, I'd do a little dance with a toy cane I had. Hanging out with granny and jaming out to promo music in my pjs, I'm glad nothings changed.

I hope TCM isn't going down the road other niche channels have - that is, trying to expand the audience and in the process losing what made the channel so special in the first place. These new "hip" art house promos seem to be indicating that this is TCM's ultimate goal.

Yea, I noticed they do not do the promos anymore, like the one from 2001 Where Robert Taylor was the SOTM etc... They need to bring it back again! I think I will write TCM via email & ask them why & that should bring back the promos!!! I always loved them!

Can't believe they got rid of it. :(
