The City of Ottawa green bins for recycling organic waste are supposed to be impenetrable to animals. But since the spring, raccoons have been regularly busting open my bin in front of my home in Westboro and helping themselves. I know they knock the bin over first, but to find out how they opened the locking mechanism, I had to set up a video camera with infrared capability. The result: City of Ottawa, we have a problem.

You expect the city to give a shit about the Raccoon problem in urban areas. They make me sick with their excuses, them, the SPCA and the MNR all cater to animal rights groups. Whatever wins them votes for next election.

We just got the organic waste bins in BC and theres a huge raccoon problem already and the bins we got don't even have a latch like yours. The lid just flops open anytime. I think the city cares more about the rats and raccoons then the people.
