Taken from the album "Coded Constellations", "Io" has been described by reviewers as ambient electronica with a retro feel. The sequenced synth bassline and VCF filter sweeps are perhaps reminiscent of Vangelis. One music-magazine reviewer, who was otherwise favourable, referred to the electronic tom fills in these words: 'No amount of retro-revivaling will ever bring back tom fills like the ones used here. At least, we hope not.' Ha ha!

Well, I like them, that's why I used them; my prerogative :-)

The title of the track comes from the name given to one of the moons of the planet Jupiter.

The abstract video that accompanies the track here on youtube was created with visualisation software.

  • This is fantastic! I love this style of music. What synths are doing the filter sweeps? And don't worry about the tom's. Simmons drums will ALWAYS be cool. ;)
