Excerpt of the performance version of E-tudes.
Performed by Piano Circus and FR at the Enterprise 08 Festival, The Space, London.
This work is a performance and/or installation that combines the use of traditional instrumental performance practice, live-electronics, improvisation, plunderphonics and generative music.
E-tudes is a composition and computer program (written in SuperCollider) that maps and processes the performances by six pianists. Three of them play madrigals by Don Carlo Gesualdo da Venosa (6th book, 1611) and the remaining three play etudes of their choice from the established piano repertoire. The composer plays live-electronics using the resulting data and sonic material as building blocks for the new composition.
