Fried Green Tomatoes is one of the great southern family movies of 1991. Another 1991 best film was also a southern family story, 'The Prince of Tides.' But I like Fried Green Tomatoes better.

@CutandPrintFilms well i dont know cause i need to go back to see about this Ninny character. i dont remember Ninny. but thanks for your effort and reply..... i should know the answer by now since ive watched it a dozen times. i guess there is so much detail i keep finding things i missed the time before.  i guess that is part of what makes a great classic

@retrospect1983 Well, I'm not sure if this is right. But I think Ninny told Evelyn that she was Idgie's step-sister..I'm not sure about her relationship with Ruth though...:/ hope that was some help
