I'm not part of any organization, I'm just a Hawaiian living on the mainland. I taped the march for personal reasons, but later heard about Pacific Edge and thought a video about this event and the issue was appropriate and should be seen.

  • However, if any groups get government money, or sit on government land or in anyway are sponsored or benefit from public coffers, they don't have the private club status.

  • @curatrix2008 I don't recall finer legal points (been 5 yrs); plaintiff argued the schools' policy of giving Native Hawaiian students priority admission violated a section of the 1866 Civil Rights act intended to protect former slaves from economic/educational discrimination by the majority. Counter-argument was that KS policy serves a different, remedial purpose for a native people who suffered harm from colonization. More info at: ksbe.edu/lawsuit/summary
