April 1, 2008 - The FDA release a new two and a half minute Chantix safety warning video clip that for the first time admits "links" to serious neuropsychiatric problems in users, including suicide.

April 2, 2008 - WhyQuit article expresses concerns over FDA video clip not advising users of the actual number of suicides and not sharing honest efficacy and effectiveness info needed to make informed use decisions.

April 3, 2008 - FDA pulls video clip. WhyQuit makes video pulled clip available for viewing. Public Citizen calls upon the FDA to issue a "black box" Chantix warning, a warning reserved for drugs linked to serious or life-threatening adverse events, the strongest warning the FDA can mandate.

  • @KezoZydis Chantix is a anti-depressant, just as Wellbutrin is a anti-depressant. They change the psychology of the person using it. Seems to me Chantix is a far more dangerous option than Wellbutrin though and just as effective, which is nada.

  • Are 14% odds of quitting for six months - a 1 in 7 chance - worth risking your life? That isn't Pfizer's counseling inflated 44% advertised rate but the newest figure from a June 2011 study by Hughes. Now balance that against the 35,000 adverse Chantix events to date reported to the FDA, 10,000 of which were serious, disabiling or deadly, including 272 completed suicides.

  • did any one feel really stoned when they were waking up in the morning!?! im going on day 3 and its the weridest thing... i smoke alot of pot but i never wake up feeling baked

  • I have stopped for 4 months and yes the Chantix helped. However, I do not reccomend it.

Chantix made me put a gun to my wifes face and later had me contemplating suicide. I'm still depressed but doing much better. Fizer did the study of chantix for the FDA, that's the fox telling you all the hens are in the hen house while feathers spew from its mouth. Side effects are far more common. I never had a mental history but this evil shit can turn you into someone you don't want to be.

  • I was on chantix for about 45 days and it worked but I took a trip with a car load of smokers and I feel of the wagon going to try it again anything has to be better than the side effects of smoking I think you just have to won't to stop I hope it works I have a new grandson and I want to be here for a long time to watch him grow, hell I'm only 45 I'm to young not to try

  • It sounds like an anti-depressant

  • Champix side effects Vs. Smoking side effects..

  • 2% success rate at 20 months. Wonder what the % rate is for bad side effects? Check out personal vaporizers, they are 80% success rate including myself. Been vaping for a year now and will NEVER smoke again!

  • speculation... keep positive chantix works for a great majority, when you first start taking this you are screened for previous depression and if in the UK you have fortnightly support sessions... worst side effects for me are nausea, nicotine withdraw headaches & a few restless nights for the 1st few weeks, quit for one week so far and feel a whole lot healthier
