Yep, I like spagnum too, and I cheat a little with bigger plants and put a tiny amount of rooting hormone powder on the bigger woodier plants I'm air layering. I've had great results!

@skiprgarden Sir, do you might know the scientific explanation on how this technique is different from just cutting the branch fully off and putting it in a pot with potting soil? also every video on youtube about air-layering recommends sphagnum moss, which is a type of a fungal plant... i guess I am going to try potting soil and see how successful I get , thanks for the quick reply.
I sould have said that i 'paint' the scratched stem that I place in the rooting mix, before bagging it all up.

Is there any alternate to moss, that you can probably make at home like dead moist grass?

@TheMafiaHernandez - Yes, marcottage is an older term for "air-layering". That term has fallen from use and more dictionaries don't even list it! Thanks for watching the videos!
