Voltron Clip - Shirogane's (Sven's) Funeral

Here is another clip from the japanese version of Voltron which was censored in the american version. It's Sven's funeral, which happens during episode six. In the american version they explain it away by just saying that he is in the process of recovering, however we never see him again.

I wonder what it would have been like if shirogane (Sven) was never ACTUALLY killed. Sven was my favorite of the original voltron pilots, and I think it would have been cool if he remained as the pilot of blue lion for the entire show.

I hear ya. It's kinda harsh that a main character already dies in 5 episodes, especially for a cartoon serie :/

@brandoman79 Thanks for the information. We North Americans and not wanting to show sadness in our cartoons. That would have been devastating for me as a kid to watch I think, lol and many other kids here in North America.

@thegodofq Go Lion wasn't a popular anime in Japan, and World Events I think that's the name of the production team the bought the rights to Go Lion brought it to North America and edited it and rebrand it as Voltron, like wise Vehicle Voltron is a total separate anime in Japan with nothing to do with Go Lion but they made that Vehicle Voltron and to tie the two they had Chip and Pidge be brothers, the third anime they got was going to be another Voltron but test groups didn't like it

@cmqguy In the North American version Sven is said to be badly wounded and needs to go to a medical planet for healing. They then bring *Sven* back (In Go Lion it's Sven's younger brother) But for Voltron they combine the two characters. The brother also dies in the conclusion of Go Lion killing Lotor with him but in Voltron they created a second season which is 100% unique and Sven is redrawn to look more like how he did in the first 5 episodes.

@pmgpc69 oh yeah, i forgot how it was killed, maby by sincline in the end, i didn't know that it has name Cobra, i watched the us version , but it was long ago and i can't remember the cat have a name at all, when i was watching a dub version in my country 17 years ago, they called it just a cat or kitty for sometimes... oh and i can't remember now, the name of Yurak in Golion...
