BRAND NEW Wheelock 7002T - First Activation!

I bought a NIB (or NOS, I should say) Wheelock 7002T a few weeks ago and hadn't had the chance to set it off. Well, I finally had some time free tonight and I set it off for its very first activation! It sounds stronger than my other 7002T and the strobe doesn't have a difficult time charging up unlike the other one. Also, I recently learned how to read Wheelock date codes and as it turns out, my other one is actually NEWER than this one! Needless to say, that caught me by surprise. Hey, i have some wheelock horn/strobes. When i connect it to the power the strobes go off and i hear the speaker but it dosent produce any tones. Can you tell me how to fix this please.

@cienaga1000 HORN/strobes or SPEAKER/strobes? It sounds to me that you have speaker/strobes and speaker/strobes don't produce any tones by themselves - they are hooked up to an audio feed provided by the panel and the panel is programmed to produce the tones/messages that come from the speakers.

It's quite interesting how the charging cycle of the strobe affects the sound of that DC horn.

@douro20 It's because unlike today's alarm signals, the strobe and horn are wired in series rather than parallel, so when the strobe discharges, it takes away the power going to the horn, causing the skip. They did make a version with separate horn and strobe wiring, which allowed for the horn not to skip, but those are rare to come across.
