Chinese in NY Celebrate New Year With 'Splendor'

And watching the Chinese New Year Splendor at Radio City Music Hall were a number of Mainland Chinese audience members. We'll see what they thought about the show.
Divine Performing Arts has introduced traditional Chinese culture to Western audiences the world over, but for its Chinese spectators, it serves to reinvigorate and reinforce their own five thousand year history.

This was a first time viewing for Mrs. Jian and her daughters who've come to the United States from Guangxi to see this performance.

[Mrs. Jian, Guangxi Resident] :
"The music is also good, the background is large, and the dancers are very good."

Mrs. Wei, a Chinese-American now living in Elmhurst, New York, saw the performance for the second time this year. She explained the sense of tranquility that she receives from the show.

[Mrs. Wei]:
"Ive always like things related to spirituality, so when I saw the performance, it was even more magnificent.

I feel very calm, and dont feel as troubled as before."

Mr. Jian from Szechuan believes the performance is very touching.

[Mr. Jian]
"The program was fantastic, very touching, especially the manifestation of China's folk dance, as well as showcasing Chinas history, it is very touching. "

Mr. Li, a Chinese tax lawyer now living in Long Island made the trip into the city with his children to show them their own proud heritage.

[Mr Li]:
Theres a lot of audience today, this is an annual performance so it is not very common, so I think it is very popular, the spreading of traditional Chinese culture is very good.

And stock market investor Ms. Xu reflected on the classic stories that were performed throughout the show.

[Ms Xu.]:
The way they tell stories, say the Monkey King as well as Mulan was told very well, also the costumes were very beautiful.
