insurance companies screw us in all forms of health care! most of the people who are against public health care aren't educated (and don't know the difference b/t socialism and communism) or are rich enough that it doesn't matter (or they are affiliated with the insurance companies).

Thank you. I live in the US and what you say is true. And it's not just people with eating disorders. What really disgusts me is that there are a lot of Americans who just don't care, who think that if you are poor and don't have health insurance it's your own fault. I heard a bitch in a bar basically say that to a Brit last week and I wanted to throw my drink on her (the bitch, not the Brit).

Don't know know that a publicly funded health care system is a socialist plot to steal our vital bodily fluids? Or some such conservative BS... Better to charge people privately for health care and if they can't pay, let them die. I really wish I were being sarcastic.

America is a great idea, but we fail at the execution. We do have great potential. I just wish we would live up to it.

@steffany4lyfe In America the poor are assumed to deserve it. They are assumed to have brought it upon themselves. Even though that is patentedly false, it is still a heart felt belief. We really are a screwed up nation.

Yes, at least some of us are pissed off about the shape of things here. I know our international reputation is horrible (and deservedly so) but there are people here who are working to make things different.

@avenginggoddess yes, its a shame people who are trying to do the right thing to help people are overshadowed but people who dont give a crap but are rich assholes who greedily want to hang on to their money whatever the human cost so everyone listens to them and not the people who actuly care!
