I'm a bit gutted she didn't belt it out right at the end, but she did a beautiful interpretation of the song. I never tire of listening to Ruthie's voice.

When you get this high in the stratosphere of artist, comparisons become subjective. There is world-class and there is not. To my ear, Ruthie MIGHT be the best female singer I have ever heard; Patti Lupone MIGHT be the greatest overall performer I have ever experienced. both so damned different (Ruthie the more classic singer; Patti a quasi Rocker/Broadway/Back seat blaster. Meanwhile SueBo (an adequate to good singer) is selling a million CDs. A shame more don't realize what true greatness is.

Ruthie is just a killer when she does songs like this, where her power and emotion just slowly sneak up on you -- building slowly, opening up in the middle of the tune and leading a strong instrumental ensemble in to a powerful, climactic finale. Her renditons of "I dreamed a dream" and "Maybe this time" are similar in that way. What a singer.
