Beijing, Nov 2, 2007 / 02:18 pm (CNA).- Organizes of the 2008 Olympics in Beijing have published a list of "prohibited objects" in the Olympic village where athletes will stay. To the surprise of many, Bibles are among the objects that will not be allowed.

According to the Italian daily La Gazzetta dello Sport, organizers have cited "security reasons" and have prohibited athletes from bearing any kind of religious symbol at Olympic facilities.

Other objects on the list include video cameras and cups.

The Spanish daily La Razon said the rule was one of a number of "signs of censure and intolerance" towards religious objects, particularly those used by Christians in China. Currently in China five bishops and fifteen priests are in prison for opposing the official Church.

Islam teaches laws because there has to be some level of justice on the earth. sadly muslims have strayed far from their teachings. but the fact is, read the Quran, you'll find that God is the most forgiving, the most merciful, over and over throughout the whole book. but we have to repent, and we have to be mindful of God.

thats what turns me off about christianity, is that as long as you believe Jesus(pbuh) died on the cross for you than youre saved. that opens the door for evil actions.

@yousonofagun Islamic punishments? in reference to shirea law? Islamic nations handle capital punishment/ detainment in vastly different ways. Some much more humane then others. I have not read into Stephen Chapman's work, and will. The fact remains... The words of Muhammad, as well as other Jewdeo/ christian prophets are very harsh to non believers, and especially those who deny Allah. Honestly I would not want serial killers roaming around because they admit to being serial killers.

I recently came across an amazing essay, The prisoner's dilemma by Stephen Chapman. He argues how Islamic punishments are more humane then western punishments. He even goes to various prisons in the US and asks the criminals, if they had the choice of an Islamic punishment vs. western punishment.... would they be willing? Not surprisingly, more then 90% said they rather take the Islamic punishment. Its an amazing situation... the criminals confessing the punishments they prefer.
