So sweet and does a great job getting around. I love how he stops to bust a little dance move. My dad became totally blinded without warning. I describe what Sean is doing to my dad and how cute he is with his little cane. My dad likes this very much too.

I have to agree with you Bethanne! It looks like this little guy is doing excellent with his cane. He DID detect the drop off and he DID find the bike and he is doing pretty dang good with his cane. With a cane he can explore his area freely and thoroughly. How great he has been carrying a cane for so long. I am an O&M instructor as well and I DO think that the cane is doing it's job! Good work mom and dad and O&M Instructor!

That toddler is adorable, bright, getting around and learning about the world. I bet Sean is doing well these days!
But the video shows that his cane is not keeping him safe from drop offs or objects becuase he holds it to one side.
An AMD would have allowed safe, protected interactive movement through the environment. But, it is clear Sean is a champ and his parents are doing great things with him!

Such a cutie! He is doing a great job. I have an 11 month old blind baby who is starting to walk so I thought I would check out some videos of other kids getting around.

Sean is looking so so good with his cane. Such the big boy. Thanks for posting video. We just love watching him. Can't wait for Wesley to walk so we can do some video taping.

I have to disagree Gambrosez. His cane definitely stopped him for going on the grass. He has had a cane since he was 1.5 and is still learning, same as a sighted child continues to learn a sense of space through these years. Sean is four now has had an O&M instructor since he was 2 and uses his can very well. AND LIKE MOST CHILDREN he continues to make mistakes and LEARN.
