looks like a lot of work for one bend

Clever stuff! The head of the bender looks a bit like your Fiesta one, but the real clever stuff is.. well, what IS your mandrel made of? Let's have a look at the bit you stuff down the middle of your tube then. And would an even bigger gear reduction, with a closed lenght of chain, allow electric drive?

@65618193 Some hereabouts, you'll find another four "random" videos. That should answer some of your questions, My big bender, the electrically operated one in another video, has a chain drive to a reduction box, and then a massive gear reduction on the final drive. Aside from the torque multiplication, you need to get down to around 2 or 3 RPM, but yeah, I don't see why you couldn't make it electrically driven. I've got an idea about how to do that..... :)

@timmytenbikes Ah,ha! Found it, random 02. Thank you. Absolutely fascinating, not content with a home made bender, a home made MANDREL bender. Like all your tech stuff in the magazines, very thought provoking. Keep 'em coming. It's good to show people that engineers build bikes and stuff, not tv personalities! Pity more people never see or realise how much plain old-fashioned hard graft and solid engineering goes into the rolling works of art they see at shows.

@65618193 Cool. I wasn't being obtuse, I'd just forgotten which one it was! I'm afraid all this video malarkey is suffering a bit at the moment because of other (bill paying) commitments. I've got a better camera, I've got some ideas, I don't seem to find the time. Plus the workshop needs a bloody good tidy up......
